Do Customers Like the Feel of Your Organization?

    May 31st, 2008

In two recent articles “Some Evidence of How We Are Spiritually Connected” and “Healing Dysfunctional Families” I reported on how individuals who live or work within a system or group are inherently connected at a level that goes beyond words. This realm of connection, which is largely spiritual or unconscious, may or may not be familiar to the more business minded person so I will take some time to explain the nature of this connection and then the wide reaching implications this idea has on the optimal functioning of organizations.

Have you ever walked into a room full of people, say at a party, and had a strange feeling about the “energy” in the room. It perhaps felt a bit draining; perhaps it made you feel sad or gave you a strange feeling of heaviness in your body. Perhaps there was a level of anxiety that you picked up in your body, as if your body was taking a reading on the mood of the room. Well in fact when you feel any or all of these types of feelings you, may be, without knowing it, picking up on the kind of mood or mindset in the room. Clearly such negative feelings are telling you that perhaps this is not a good place for you to be.

Now because most individuals are not tuned into their body’s messages they often find themselves ignoring or downplaying such messages perhaps only to find out later, at a much higher cost, that they went into something they should have avoided. The negative messages that one’s body picks up in such circumstances are key and important messages to be understood and heeded. They signal the net negativity that exists within that setting, group, system or organization. Yes, organization!

Now a large number of people, who may be your customers, will feel such a negative energy in your organization, if yours happens to carry a net negative mind set or negative “emotional baggage”. Such negativity can arise from employees whose lives are emotionally unstable, from high stress levels among employees, from a management that unknowingly promotes a culture that is unhealthy and demotivating, and even from the life history that the organization carries with it throughout its life time and many other factors.

Examples of the latter may be such events as dramatic downsizings, hostile mergers, and severe economic downturns and so on. Such traumatic events get stored in the “memory” of the organization in the same way as traumatic memories are stored in the memory of an individual. They accumulate there and serve to impair the performance of the employees who work in that organization, even new ones.

As the nature of most business operations are driven by the competitive model it goes without saying that the probability of a high stress levels, emotional instability, angst, and other negative emotions emerging within an organization are high. These negative emotions, in turn tend to frighten management because they have no understanding of how to deal with them.

Such negative emotions which then become perceived as a threat to the stability of the organization get buried within the “unconscious” of the organization. They are however clearly felt by everyone else i.e. customers, suppliers, distributors etc. who come into contact with that organization. The net result is a breakdown in trust, relationships, performance and ultimately revenues.

This area of research is such a new field that most top managers have little to no training in emotional awareness. This was the revelation I had when I attended Executive MBA studies at the Richard Ivey School of Management in London, Ontario in the late 1990’s. It was at the time one of the top Canadian schools and ranked as one of the top in the world next to schools such as Harvard Business School. Most other top schools also fell short of having any real awareness of such issues. My colleagues, unfortunately seemed ill equipped to handle the kinds of emotional traps and that lay waiting for them both at the individual and at the organizational level.

In recent years I have developed a new tool which I call the Mind Resonance Process(TM) that is easily applicable at the organizational level to help quickly and easily “iron out” the negative emotional factors that linger in the halls and offices of most organizations. The net result is an energy of optimism, possibility, and one that is refreshing for all who come into contact with that organization. It is serving as new tool in the organization’s repertoire to build a larger customer base and draw higher revenues.

    Winclear :History Of Internet Use

    May 31st, 2008

Another possible way in which cookies can negatively affect your computer is when they are stored on your hard drive for too long. Generally, the information there is safe because it is non-executable text files. However, if malware or spyware is installed on your computer, it may be possible for it to access those cookies and start retrieving your login, email, and personal information and sending it back to whomever installed the spyware. This effect continues until the antispyware cleans the spyware.

As soon as these details have been entered, an error page appears; it tells the user that the transaction has been unsuccessful, and offers instructions on how to pay for the ticket by postal money order. So the user may well be fooled twice. He loses his credit card details, putting them right into the hands of cyber-crooks, and then loses money, if decides to buy the ticket by money order. Data loggers, key loggers are just a few programs which harvest info from your computer. Winclear is the only program created specially to auto remove such spywares. Experts are now saying that nothing is 100 percent secure on the internet anymore and users must take steps to protect themselves. That is why every computer owner needs winclear.

Protect With Winclear :Print Out Internet Explorer History
Although computer users are becoming much more adept at protecting themselves from online identity theft threats such as viruses, the public is only just now starting to take notice of the huge increase in crimes enabled by the use of spyware. Winclear is the only software which is capable of removing keylogger programs. Spyware is a constant and annoying problem. Winclear has been the industry leader in fighting keyloggers for the last 8 years.

Microsoft Great Plains 8.0 Brazilian Version - Overview For International Consultant

    May 30th, 2008

Microsoft Great Plains has substantial mid-market share in the USA plus due to the marketing efforts of former Great Plains Software (now part of Microsoft Business Solutions) in Spanish Speaking South America, South Africa, United Kingdom, Middle East, Poland - we see strong position of Microsoft Great Plains in these regions (on these markets MBS promotes two mid-market ERP: Great Plains and Navision).

In Brazil situation is the following. Brazilian market has long story of local mid-size accounting/ERP systems - Microsiga is one of the major - it was developed in Brazil for Brazilian market. Great Plains Software marketing campaign was getting very strong resistance from local market commitment to Microsiga and other local ERP application.

Currently MBS officially promotes Navision on the Brazilian market, however localized version of Microsoft Great Plains is available as well.

We’ll describe you in this small article the technical side of the localized Brazilian Portuguese version:

    • Translated Interface and Reports. Great Plains is written on Great Plains Dexterity programming shell with several types of resources, one of the types is Strings - localization requires you to translate String resources to have windows and ReportWriter reports show Portuguese text.

    • Tax Engine. This is more difficult. If you look at the tax code of the country of the size of Brazil: such as Russia, France, China, India - you will find that it has nuances, making such a tax code very unique and this is probably why in the above countries we find local accounting applications being very successful - these applications were developed mainly for the specific large country tax code, government tax reporting and other regulations.

In Brazil this is Microsiga. Great Plains Dynamics was designed for US tax code with US Social security, later on it was adjusted to comply VAT (Value Added Tax) rules to promote it in UK and other countries. Microsoft Great Plains version 8.0 Brazilian Portuguese version was adjusted to comply Brazilian tax and government regulations

    • Payroll-related filings. These are W-2 or like in US. Brazil has its own rules and accounting application should pass certain government certifications in the country of this size
Of course, midsize accounting application requires local support, when it has adapted local version. You can imagine all the issues, related to upgrades, data conversions, customizations, integrations. Somebody should stay behind and serve local clients. Don’t worry, MBS does support it in Brazil via local partner.

Happy implementing and we are always available to help you in Brazil. Call us in So Paulo: 55-11-3826-3449, 55-113825-2586! help@albaspectrum.com

The Best Things In A Home Based Business Are Free

    May 30th, 2008

One of the biggest advantages for doing business on the internet is the low or no cost that is involved in starting and managing the business. Take the place where you do business which is the site, your online store. Most sites can be setup for free by a hosting company. You can either design it yourself or have someone design it for you, again for free.

Products for your business can be obtained for free from various affiliate programs. You do not have to pay for storage of the product because this is done for you by the affiliate. Once the prospect lands on the affiliate’s page they will sell, pack, and ship the merchandise for you. Again, for free. And you are paid a commission on the sale just for leading the prospect to the affiliate’s landing page through your promotions.

Now some promotions can also be free. For instance, you can write articles with links to your site, about the products, and have them published on hundreds of directories on the internet for free. The articles act as advertisement and through the links take the prospect to your site where you, in turn, through links or banners direct the prospect to the affiliate’s landing page where the sale is made. You can also get the prospect to your page through links with other web pages or through your position in search engines. All again for free!

Another way that you can get free advertisement is by belonging to a forum where you can participate in discussions and develop relationships. Your name and site will be listed each time you make a contribution and if enough interest is developed in what you offered; BINGO, you have another person following the link to your site.

You can also develop and place a free press release on the internet every time you add a new product or launch a new site. Blogs, Newsletters, and eBooks can also act as free advertisements. And because the internet is free, their distribution is free.

Let us not overlook the fact that in order to profit from all of the free stuff that is offered you need to do your homework. You will need to examine which hosting company offers the site designs that fit your style. Study which products you are going to be comfortable with representing and promoting. Determine how much knowledge and skills you will need to possess about the products so that you can develop interesting content to draw interest and develop a desire for the product.

You will need to develop a reputation for yourself as being an expert in the field before you will gain a following. This will take some time to establish. You need to be patient, persistent, and committed. Remember, “Rome was not built in a day” but it has lasted many a lifetime. And so can your home business. It is a great opportunity when you consider all of what can be done for free.

Health Insurance 101 for Individuals and Families

    May 30th, 2008

The changing healthcare and health insurance landscape in the United States has resulted in more individuals and families purchasing health insurance coverage on their own. Rather than touch on the number of reasons why this is the case, I would like to provide individuals and families finding themselves in this position with ten basic ideas to assist them with getting the best health insurance policy for their specific situation. Below is a combination of ten questions and suggestions that will provide the tools necessary to get a medical insurance policy that will best work for you and your family.

1)What are your typical health and medical care expenses in a calendar year? Most people are surprised when they go through this exercise to learn that they would be financially better off in most years to purchase a high deductible health insurance plan and use the premium savings to directly offset heath care expenses throughout the year.

2)How long do you anticipate needing the health insurance coverage? For example, many companies sell temporary policies that can be put in force for 1-6 months and they are relatively inexpensive. If you are in between jobs or in a waiting period for employer coverage, this may be your best option.

3)What is your budget? If your budget is tight, having a $1000, $2500 or even $5000 deductible is better than having no coverage at all. The ability of doctors and hospitals to save and prolong life in the United States is in many cases extraordinary. However, their treatment is not free and going without health insurance coverage can in some cases result in you and/or your family losing an entire life’s worth of savings and assets.

4)Be careful to choose a plan that covers the “big stuff”. It is nice to have a policy that covers items such as: physician office visits, routine physicals, outpatient testing, and blood work. However, it is essential to have coverage for major services such as cancer treatment, transplants, critical illness, traumatic accidents, and infectious diseases. Find out the lifetime maximum amount as well as if the policy contains “internal” dollar limits.

5)Always carefully read and understand the pre-existing condition clause and policy exclusions so that you will not be surprised down the road if a claim is denied. This is important whether you are purchasing a standard medical, temporary, or student health insurance policy.

6)Does the insurance company you are considering have a substantial network of preferred doctors and hospitals in your area? In addition to family doctors, what type of access will you have to specialists and the best hospitals in the event you or a family member is diagnosed with an illness that requires specialized care? Also, what are your options for preferred health care providers when traveling?

7)If you need to go “out of network”, will you still have coverage? Most insurance policies will have coverage in the event you need to go outside of their network for care. However, review how these out of network claims will be paid. Will there be an additional deductible? How are reimbursement levels determined for out of network claims? What is your maximum out of pocket for out of network claims?

8)Are you looking for an opportunity to reduce your taxable income? If so, make sure your plan qualifies as a high deductible health plan and look into all of the aspects of a Health Savings Account. In the right situation, HSAs can be an excellent way to pay for eligible health care expenses, reduce your taxable income and save for retirement.

9)What are the financial ratings of the insurance company you are considering? A.M. Best, Standard & Poor’s, and Moody’s are organizations that rate the financial stability of insurance companies.

10)What type of customer service will you get from your insurance agent? Do they specialize in health insurance? Do they have a staff that is willing and able to assist you in the event you have a claim, billing, or other customer service problem?

If you do not have the time or patience to look into all of the items mentioned above, develop a relationship with an independent insurance agent that specializes in evaluating and servicing health insurance policies. A good independent insurance agent will be able to save you time, money, and be an excellent resource for evaluating all of the items mentioned above.

    What Is Telemarketing?

    May 28th, 2008

Heard about telemarketing? I bet you do. Telemarketing is an age old marketing practice that is commonly used by most companies or businesses which have a planned approach to marketing products with the aim to generate a higher volume of sales from the services. To put it simply, the term “telemarketing” refers to a way that businesses can advertise their products and offer their services.

    The Basics

There are a number of operations involve in telemarketing. Most of the companies offering this kind of service often employ professional telemarketers or call centers to make telephone calls or send faxes to the potential customers on their behalf, hence the name. However, in order to obtain a list of the potential customers, the company usually purchases telemarketing lists which are available with vendors based on a preset condition or requirement. After this, if you are the one running the telemarketing business, you can have your staff or third party companies call these contacts in order to generate the so-called “telemarketing leads”.

There is another thing that is common in the telemarketing field, that is, a “dead air” or “hang up”. Well, this is actually the situation in which you may receive a telephone call where no one is on the other end. It can be annoying and frightening on the part of the customer. But, understand that these calls are often the result of something called “predictive dialing”. Many of the telemarketing organizations these days employ automatic dialers to place telephone calls or send faxes. Thus, a dead air or hang up call often occurs, especially if the representative of the business is not available when the call is answered. It is further worth noting though that companies generally allow sufficient time between calls for a representative to be available. But, there are some instances, especially when the representative is on another line longer than expected, that the result of the operation is the so-called “dead air”.

    Main Categories of Telemarketing

There are two major categories involved in a telemarketing business. The first is Business-to-Business, and the second is Business-to-Consumer.

Business-to-Business - This actually refers to the operation in which the company tries to look for other companies interested in high quality business to business calling in sales, appointment setting, lead generation, customer service, and even technical support.

Business-to-Consumer - Like the call center programs, business to consumer telemarketing needs the special service capabilities as well as considerations. One thing to note when it comes to this kind of operation is the recent “do not call” legislation which requires that your call center must be very vigilant about the lists they use for their business to consumer programs. There are, however, some companies out there that accept business to consumer programs simply to extend their calling hours.

Note that within these two categories of telemarketing are two broad divisions: the lead generations, where the main purpose is to obtain information; and sales, where the main object is to obtain someone to buy something. All of these operations are usually done by professional telemarketers.

    Mastering Your Fears

    May 28th, 2008

You are not the only one who has fears. We all have them. It is a normal human condition. Fears are not confined to any one type of person or any one country or continent. They are universal. If you are currently an expat, repatriate or have not left your borders yet, you will be facing fears now or in the future. But fears do not have to be perceived as negative or frightening.

Fears do have a purpose. They can definitely keep you safe and stop you from doing silly and irrational things. We are not told enough that fears help us to be in touch with who we are. When you are feeling fearful, stop, and ask yourself what is really going on. What is it that is making you feel fearful?

Feelings do not lie, they are true indicators of what it is that is really affecting our peace of mind. Despite what some may say, it is healthy to admit our fears and anxieties. On the other hand, it is not healthy to deny them and pretend that they do not exist. When we do this, our fears do not disappear, but rather get stored away in the many files of our subconscious to wreak havoc at a later stage. When we own up to our fear, it seems that they lose their control over us.

We cannot get rid of fears completely, but we can work through them. As with many other things in life, it is what we do and how we do it that counts. How we cope with our fears makes all the difference in building up and strengthening our self-esteem, self-confidence and trust in ourselves to be able to deal with any obstacle that comes our way.

Some tips to deal with fear:

Make a list of all your successes.
Do something that shifts your perspective - take a walk, listen to uplifting music, talk to someone, watch an inspiring movie …
Don’t always try to be perfect.
Write down your fears as they happen and come back to it when you are able to deal with it.
Always have a sense of humor.
Try not to take everything so significantly.
Ascertain what you can do right now about your fear and do it.

When you are able to do more, take the next step.

One thing I have found to be true is that the best remedy for fear is to take action. Even the smallest of actions will help to dispel your fears. Try it out.

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.”

    Dialogue on the Bible

    May 28th, 2008

A conversation between myself and an acquiantance…

Punkerslut: Do you believe in the Bible?

    Christian: Of course I do.

Punkerslut: But do you believe in slavery?

    Christian: No, I don’t. That’s a silly question.

Punkerslut: There are various parts of the Bible which affirm slavery to be a just method, though. Exodus 21:20-21 justifies it.

Christian: Well, that was the Old Testament.

Punkerslut: Ephesians 6:5 of the New Testament also justifies it.

Christian: The slavery in the Bible was different than the slavery of the Bible.

Punkerslut: Why did the southerners use the Bible to justify it, then?

Christian: They didn’t really understand the Bible. They interpretted it incorrectly.

Punkerslut: So, for the past two thousand years, nobody was a real Christian, because they didn’t understand the Bible, and therefore couldn’t believe it. But for the past few decades, it was only then that the Bible was really understood?

Christian: You don’t have to understand the Bible to believe it.

    Punkerslut: You don’t?

Christian: No… You just have to believe it.

Punkerslut: When you don’t understand something, it means that there are parts which you may think contradict each other, or possibly they don’t properly fit together, or maybe you read or heard something when in fact the opposite is what is implied. For instance, if someone said, “My answer is yes and my answer is no,” you may be confused, because you were given a contradictory answer — but perhaps they meant a yes to one question and a no to another question. If someone said, “Because the knife was in Joe’s locker, it means that Jacob was the murderer.” You may not understand, until you find out that Jacob was the only one with access to Joe’s locker, and Joe was out of town for weeks. If someone said, “There is one statement I hate more than anything: ‘Slavery is right!’” and you walked in only while he said, “Slavery is right!” you may also be confused. In all of these instances, you didn’t understand.

Christian: But you believed, and that’s what counts with Christianity.

Punkerslut: Precisely. If someone said something that confused you, wouldn’t you want to apply reason to it and try to understand?

    Christian: Yes, of course.

Punkerslut: So, you agree then that Christianity can only thrive, and has only thrived, because people have placed less importance upon reasoning and logic, particularly in religious matters?

    Christian: I didn’t say that.

Punkerslut: You said that in Christianity, you need not understand and that must only believe. You said that every Christian up to 50 years ago didn’t understand the Bible since slavery and prejudice have been prevalent until then. And you said that if you don’t understand, attempting to comprehend is reasonable.

    Christian: So?

Punkerslut: Christians accepted what they didn’t understand. Reason would ask them to investigate what they didn’t understand, but they ignored reason, even insulted and criminalized it. As the Christians moved from the position of being eaten by lions to being the ones who tortured others, the only way that a person could become a Christian was by belief — and belief in something so contradictory must be accompanied by an abhorance of reason, correct?

    Christian: You’re twisting my words.

Punkerslut: No, I was actually quite simple and precise in showing you how I went from one step of my argument to the next.

Christian: Well, whatever… Even so, reason cannot save you, only Christ can.

Punkerslut: You’re just restating your original opinion. What is the method by which we decipher truth from falsity? Reason. If reason indicted Christianity for hypocrisy and contradiction, it’s not trying to save you, exactly, but tell you that Christianity cannot do that either. But then again, the idea that you need to be saved is also a Christian idea.

    Christian: I don’t believe that.

    Punkerslut: What part?

    Christian: All of it.

Punkerslut: Could you be more specific?

    Christian: Everything you say.

Punkerslut: Yes, that part was clear when you said “all of it.”

    Consequences

    May 28th, 2008

God has moments of anger, like as do we. However, some have
misconceptions about His response. There’s an unspoken law of
consequences between the forces of good and evil, a result of
being born into a sinful world.

In observing my daughter, as a very young child, whenever she
was disobedient. If I didn’t discipline, she’d suddenly become
injured or some other mishap. It was as if God was punishing
    her, or so I thought.

Once God gave me an example of how it really is.

Imagine yourself standing between the sidewalk and curb. Your
hands are wrapped behind your back, tied to a tree. A car is
coming and your child runs into the street. You’ve no physical
    means of reaching that child.

Hearing the speeding car, first thoughts come faster than you
can verbalize, “No! The car will hurt you!”

You scream a plea, with anything you think might cause that
child to change their direction, before it’s too late. That is
how it is with God. Were it any other way, He’d have to take
    away our freedom of choice.

There are consequences for running out into the street! And,
the parent is way beyond distraught even before the accident
occurs, because they have a glimpse into the future.

Imagine how God must, sometimes, feel watching His children run
the wrong direction. When the consequences come and we didn’t
heed God’s warning, God didn’t do it to us.

Think about it. If our parents wouldn’t smack us with a moving
vehicle because we didn’t obey, if you wouldn’t run over your
child as punishment for not listening … we were made in the
image of God and He loves us so much more. The truth is, when
consequences come, there is no one else to blame. We would have
    done it to ourselves.

Glass Sinks - 4 Unbreakable Rules of Buying a Glass Vessel Sink

    May 27th, 2008

Want a glass sink but don’t have the slightest idea how to buy
one? Then these rules are for you.

    1. Know your sinks How durable are these sinks? These sinks are
tempered. Tempered glass is regular glass that has been heated
to a very high temperature, and then quickly cooled. This
procedure strengthens the glass, making it 5-7 times stronger
    than regular glass.

Sink glass is fairly thick. Typical thicknesses range from
inch to inch. You can go about your normal grooming habits
such as brushing your teeth, combing your hair, shaving,
applying make-up, etc without worrying about breakage.

Like the look of these above the counter glass sinks, but don’t
want glass? Consider a porcelain vessel sink. You’ll get the
    look without the worry.

    2. Know your space The most popular bowl sinks are 15-20 inches
in diameter, about the width of your keyboard. They’re about 5-8
inches deep, about the length from the base of your wrist to
    your ring or middle finger.

Make sure that you have the appropriate amount of space to
accommodate the sink and accessories, plus maintain ample space
away from the edge of the counter and the wall so that the “fear
of leaning on it” factor is no longer a factor. 12-15 inches
around the entire sink will do.

Don’t have much space? Then try a pedestal sink. Pedestal sinks
are sinks that are pre-mounted on a space saving pedestal. Don’t
want to sacrifice floor space? Try a wall mounted glass sink
countertop. Both options will give you an ultra modern sink
    while conserving space.

Have a large bathroom to fill? A glass vessel sink vanity can
help consume some space. You’ll get a glass sink and a roomy
    counter that comes together.

    3. Know your traffic Since children have the uncanny ability to
break things, you may want to rethink putting a glass vessel
sink in a young child’s bathroom. Children over age 10 tend to
be more conscientious of their surroundings, and your glass sink
stands a greater chance of survival around children of that age
or older. In general, less foot traffic around it, the better.

A guest bathroom or power room is well-suited for these sinks.
You’ll be able express your style while impressing your
neighbors, friends and family. And who doesn’t like to be
respected for their exquisite taste? Most importantly, there
will be less traffic and less worry.

If you have a large family, a family with young children or one
bathroom and want the look of these glass sinks but realize that
glass might not be the best option, then consider a porcelain or
    copper vessel sink.

    4. Know your budget Prices can start as low as $50 to as high as
$10,000. There could be many reasons for the difference in
pricing. Glass sinks can be factory made or custom made, blown
glass or fused glass, single layer or double layered glass.

Custom made and/or blown glass sinks are more expensive due to
the time and expertise involved in creating them. With custom
made sinks, you’ll communicate one-on-one with the artist of
your sink and you’ll receive expert knowledge about its creation
and special maintenance requirements. The best part: no one else
will ever have a sink exactly like yours. This comes with an
upscale price of $1,000 or more.

Consider the sink’s quality. Whether quality, customer service
or knowledge, sometimes you get what you pay for. Be careful of
sinks that start at rock bottom prices. They sometimes come
without warranties, the sellers are not knowledgeable about the
sinks and they’re simply quantity discounters and have nothing
more to offer than just a low price.

Buying a glass sink is simple when you plan properly and know
your limitations. With these 4 Rules, you’ll be 4 steps closer
to establishing the bath of your dreams and needs.
