The Jam Packed Sector of Gaming Laptops

    August 18th, 2008

Not so long a go it seemed like laptops for gaming were only attainable from particular companies and they were usually built to order. Even though they did not sell a large deal they still produced the most in comparison to other types of notebook. These trendy laptops were just too expensive. In my perspective they were the best laptop computers available. I reckon we all got thrilled about them but the large number of us would never buy laptop computers that were so pricey. Things look set to shift though because now the gaming portables niche has attracted the attention of larger brands.

These notebooks have a particular price bracket and these brands are aware they don’t have to be price aggressively in this sector. Profits have been so low recently that this is a fantastic chance to make more money by selling computers. In my point of view well known manufacturers can employ leverage to induce prospects to buy laptop computers despite cost. I believe smaller resellers are really concerned about this. I’m fairly certain that the bigger brands will seek to squeeze the little ones out. In my point of view if anyone’s going to pay a lot of money the established brand always wins.

With that these units are in addition considered to be the best laptop computers already, even though they really aren’t. This contains the potential to be increasingly positive for small retailers. This is an enormous sales point that must be mentioned. People that buy high spec laptop computers will normally see past the useless features. For consumers of this kind, how well it performs typically is of greater importance than how it looks.

This is really good news from a customers position. Ultimately it will drive prices down even more and make the newest technology even more obtainable for everybody. I say that a little hesitantly however as the laptops business is an extremely fast changing market. Technology is constantly getting better and the new units should usually be high priced when it just comes out. It is tough to tell what will take place now that the large manufacturers have become involved in making laptops for gaming.

This web site (http://www.rizeon.com) is selling a couple of great laptops for gaming at very cheap prices.

Not Long Before We See Sleek And Portable Gaming Laptops

    June 29th, 2008

Laptops seem to be the current popular thing this year. This battery shortage obstacle is not going to help the circumstances either. Many have predicted laptops to be in demand but its phenomenal that theres been no slow down. New gadgets are hitting the shelves all the time that litterally create new sectors in the laptop computer business.

The majority of manufacturers have been bringing out gaming notebooks recently. With prices dropping and new technology being introduced rather rapidly it means that consumers are getting greater value for money. The speed of gaming notebooks has vastly enhanced and its really a viable means of gaming. Smaller components that perform faster and are run cooler also means that gone are the times of the big laptop computers for gaming. Speed of computers should always be a mile ahead of notebooks but its still encouraging to see. Everyone always desires to squeeze silly amounts of speed from compact packages so I would expect thats where gaming notebooks are destined.

Despite the fact that the market share is controlled by manufacturers selling via retail outlets I feel the direct channel and custom built notebooks will forever be around. Memory and disk drives are typically high performance engineered components in custom notebooks which enthusiats consumers like. By being able to remove some extras from the spec you can truly save money on parts you don’t intend to use. Pre configured notebook computers are targeted for normal tasks and not upto doing more specific activies. You get over this by aquiring a notebooks built to . Manufacturers who provide custom notebooks typically offer a greater personal and local service too. Yet a further good reason.

I am actually awaiting to see what laptops get released next. This year it looks like budget portables are the popular item. Vast amounts of comparitive devices have already been released at a fast speed. I would like to see a bigger version of these cheap ultraportables. I feel it should be a big success. Overlook performance and cost and we could already have this. Notebooks for playing games on will get smaller, that’s for sure. We techies will see something amazing in the next few months that’s for certain.

    Understanding Email Netiquette

    May 13th, 2008

In life, it is the moral responsibility for the elder to teach the younger, or for the experienced to teach the inexperienced. In internet life, the same moral responsibility applies in regards to correct use of email.

One large difference is that, in internet life, it is very often the younger who are the experienced. The current waves of growth in internet usage, the new users, are largely from the older generations.

Accordingly, it becomes the responsibility of the experienced users to educate and train newer users in the correct usage of email. One simple way of imparting this education to lesser experienced internet users is to politely refer them to this article, either on the page you are currently reading or at http://BestPrac.Org/articles/netiquette.htm

The internet life carries it’s own versions of courtesy, privacy and security issues that all users need to know. Hence a new word has entered the vocabulary - Netiquette. (Internet etiquette.)

    For example:

In internet and email culture, ALL CAPITALS IS AKIN TO SHOUTING and is universally seen as rude and impolite.
New email users often forget to include a brief “Subject” line on their emails, or do not understand the importance of it. Ordinary postal service “snail-mail” does not ordinarily require a heading about the contents of the letter on the outside of the envelope - though most posted periodicals and many commercial accounts nowadays do identify the contents or level of importance on the outside of the envelope. Email, however, operates very differently from snail-mail. Never omit a subject line, and keep your subject line brief and relevant. Without a subject line, your email will probably be seen as yet another junk email and be deleted unread by the intended recipient. More commonly, it may not even reach the recipient at all. Many ISPs filter suspicious looking emails and delete them without delivery. A blank subject line to an email filter is like waving a red rag in front of a bull.
Never send emails to people you do not know without their express permission. Only send email to people who you know, or who have clearly indicated that they want to receive correspondence from you. Violation of this act of Netiquette can land you in all sorts of trouble. You will be labelled as a spammer. In some states or countries, you risk being charged with criminal or cival violations of the law for sending unsolicited email. Even in countries or states where there is no specific law prohibiting unsolicited email, it is regarded as bad manners and offensive. If you check with your ISP, you will almost always find that they reserve the right to terminate your internet connection if they receive complaints about you for sending unsolicited email.
Even when sending email to people that you do know, only send them what they are likely to want. Not everyone you know wants jokes or other “chain email” forwarded to them. Not everyone shares your sense of humour or has the time while connected at work to be reading frivolous emails. If you like forwarding jokes or other “chain emails” to your friends, check with them first to be sure they are happy to receive them.
Think before you type. Type, then think again. Unlike face-to-face or voice-to-voice communications, the easily and quickly typed email can all too easily be a source for expressing your feelings in the bluntest of ways. Similarly, the hastily written word may lack feelings and not express the emotions that can be sensed with eye contact or voice modulation in other forms of communications. It is too easy to forget that there is a human at the other end - not just a computer. You can very easily damage your own reputation and destroy friendships with thoughtless emails. Once an email is sent, you cannot retrieve it. The damage is done.
While to the experienced user all of the above is simply common sense, as the old saying goes “Common sense is not really all that common.” These basics are not innate within the human sole. Newcomers need to be taught.

When to use To:, CC: or BCC:

Another vital area of appropriate email usage goes beyond merely being courteous in your communications - the correct use of To: or CC: or BCC when adding recipients to the email your are sending.

All popular email software and all web-email accounts give you a choice of these three different ways to add a recipient for your email. (Sometimes you might need to check your software menu and enable BCC as a visible option. It is not a visible option by default in all email software, unfortunately.) Your choice has vital privacy and security implications, so it is important to know which to use and when. While “To:” is self explanatory, a brief definition and history of CC: and BCC: will help you understand their correct usage.

CC: is a term from old fashioned typists. It stands for “Carbon Copy”. In days of old, prior to photocopiers or word processors with laser printers, copies of letters were made by inserting two sheets of typing with a sheet of carbon paper in between into the typewriter. When a secretary typed a letter that was meant for one person though another person (other other people) was to receive a copy, and the first person was to be informed that a copy was being sent to another person, the typist would add a line under the signature at the end of the letter, along the lines of:

    CC: Joe Bloggs.
    Jane Smith.

This convention alerted to direct recipient to the fact that the letter had also been sent to other specific people.

If you did not want the direct recipient to know that copies were sent to other people, you’d simply not include a CC: line at the end of the letter.

BCC: stands for “Blind Carbon Copy”. It is the electronic equivalent of sending a letter to multiple people without a CC: line. It means that people receive the email without any trace of who else is also receiving it being revealed.

Given those definitions, there are simple guidelines as to when you should use To:, CC: or BCC: in the emails that you send:

If your email is being sent to just one person or email address, place it in the “To:” section.
If your email is being sent to more than one recipient and all the recipients truly need to know who else is receiving it, put all the addresses in the CC: section.
If your email is being sent to more than one recipient but there is no urgent reason for all the recipients to know the names and email addresses of everyone else to whom it is being sent, put all the addresses in the BCC: section.
(Some email software requires at least one address to be placed in the To: section. If yours insists on this when you are trying to send a CC or BCC email, put your own email address in the To: section.)

Understanding these basic principles of email usage has many benefits. It preserves the privacy of your contacts. It prevents lists of names and email addresses being sent to strangers when someone you send an email then forwards it to others. It helps to prevent viruses, worms and trojans being accidentally spread by your friends with out-of-date antivirus programs.

Most of all, it shows the people with whom you communicate that you are sensible and responsible in your online behaviour. It shows that you take their privacy and security seriously. It builds trust in your communications.

Performance Laptops Now Offering More Value Than Ever

    May 8th, 2008

There are two types of expensive laptop. On one end you have the large, beefy gaming laptops and on the other you have the thin and light ultra portables which are ridiculously priced. Both command high price tags. Gaming laptops are more practical for day to day use if you’re replacing a desktop and the umpc’s are the best choice if you are syncing the data with your desktop. However the market for ultrea portables is rather small and the most popular laptop size is 15.4 inch. A new trend are the throw away laptops that are 10 inch or smaller, underpowered and only usable for a number of common tasks. If you could only choose one the gaming laptop will always win as most people who require mobility can still be mobile with the average 15.4 inch size.

When purchasing notebooks you can purchase from the tier one manufacturers or from the local resellers. Each channel has its own merits. Usually with international brands you have the peace of mind you are purchasing a companies product and that company has and will be around for a long time. However more often then not, support is difficult to contact, the internals are also nothing meant for performance, performance costs the earth and there isn’t much choice of gaming laptops with the majority of them. Local brands can most likely give you whatever you want. They give all the high performance components without charging premiums for them. The customer service is more personalised and they usually put in more effort to keep you happy. Getting a good warranty is important because small system builders could got out on business. When purchasing a gaming laptop the cpu, ram and graphics processor are the most important parts one should think about. The cpu should be a dual core cpu like the intel core 2 duo with a speed of over 2GHz as the minimum. Minimum requirements for RAM are 2GB if running Windows Vista but try to get 3GB or even 4GB if you have a 64bit OS. To play games you need to have a dedicated graphics card. 256MB is the minimum dedicated graphics memory to look for. I think an Nvidia 8600M card should be good for playing all the new games well. Nothing but the most powerful cards will do for gaming enthusiasts.

So gaming laptops do offer the versatility of a desktop computer and if you want do some gaming then they play all PC games rather well too but what about gaming consoles? The PS3 and Xbox 360 could offer a threat to the thought of a gaming laptop. Choosing one is still difficult as gaming laptops still have a high price tag for the added functionality and benefits they offer but the majority of consumers would be willing to pay the price to get the best of both.

    One Whisper-And Then…

    April 22nd, 2008

Dear reader: I see that I have told you about the Whisper. Now it is time to tell you how after it came, nothing was ever the same….

Up until the first Tuesday of the month of August 2005, I would not have been able to guess what OOBE stood for. I had one on that day. After some research on the internet, I identified it as a spontaneous (while awake) OBE of the animistic variety, and most likely induced by overwork (one of several possible inducements I found in my search).

It was an unusually hectic night in the Emergency Room of the hospital where I worked as a bedside registration rep. The following morning I was still feeling the effects of it. I awoke, drank my coffee, and still feeling tired (and a little wired too I think) I decided to lie down again.

I was totally awake with my eyes closed, immersed in thought (about some metaphysical ideas I had recently been trying to resolve), when all of a sudden I became aware that I was not in my body anymore! Instead I was slightly elevated above it, perhaps two or three feet!

As I felt my’self’ existing in a conscious state of thought matter outside my body, I was able to look down on it. I observed it was in a somewhat deflated condition as clothing would look before it is fleshed out by the body. In fact, that is what it seemed like to me - my body was layed out on the bed like something for me to wear! (think about that next time your getting dressed for work). Later, I likened it to a comfortable sleeping bag I could slip into, or how a soft supple moccasin looks before the foot steps in to fill it out.

I was fully aware of what was taking place and made good mental note of it. It lasted about thirty seconds (hard to tell, maybe not even that long) after which I gradually drifted back into my body.

In reports I read on the internet, experiences of this type were sometimes life transforming to those who had the pleasure. It was most pleasant and enjoyable indeed, but I was also half prepared to attribute the cause of it to caffeine, LOL!

As for a life transforming experience, I did not think this was the case for me since I tend to take experiences like this in stride and consider them natural occurences. However, after a few days had passed, I seemed to be sensing some type of awareness and well being that was not there before. Nice and wonderful.

There is more. A little while after the initial feeling of well being (perhaps an hour or two), I became frightened and found myself wishing there was someone nearby to hold on to. I’m not sure why I was frightened as I am in no way frightened any longer. During this same period of OBE occurance, I am reading Carlos Castaneda’s ‘The Teachings of Don Juan’. I had reached the point where don Juan reveals the lizards from his pouch, each having their eyes or mouth sewn shut and each must eventually be consumed. I can only guess that frame of mind generated some of my fear.

I also read that most OBE’s occur while lying down, but some occur while engaged in daily physical activities. I now have had both types - allow me to relate: The other one (which I did not realize was an OBE), occured about two or three years ago as I was driving to a doctor appointment. I was intently gazing into the incredibly vibrant blue sky with cascading clouds (obviously at a stoplight here, lol!). Since my episode with cancer seven years ago, I often find a vibrant blue sky to give me a sense of rapture and indeed, I was in that state when all at once and in an instant, I felt my ‘being’ expand throughout the entire expanse of the Universe. That was an experience of the unequalled kind - unforgettable and fortunate.

Anyway (dear reader), I am definately getting the sense that this type of occurence can be induced and controlled, but I am in no way anywhere near something like that and I don’t know that I ever will be. I ‘think’ that it is mind/thought related, especially since my experience was animistic. (for others it may be different depending on their own experience). No doubt I will be learning much more about it.

Oh, and dear reader; let me ask you to make note at this point of the fear I told you had come and gone…and make note too of my interpretation of the impact of the event (which my mind took the liberty of rationalizing ‘into’ my body). This account was written just five days after the event. Today’s writing is a full seventeen days afterward….which is not the same thing…I can assure you. There is more-

    Comparing Free Blogging Software

    April 15th, 2008

With the increased interest in Blogging (web Logging), many web hosting providers now provide an assortment of free usage, open source blogging software packages. Among the most popular of these blogging tools are B2evolution, WordPress and Nucleus. Each of these programs offer similar basic features, so the question arises as to which one is easiest to use and would be appropriate for the requirements of your particular website.

The answer lies in the true purpose of your blog website. If your primary goal is to share your opinions and ideas with the general public, you would want to utilize a different blogging tool than a user who was creating product blogs as a commercial sales effort. A blog for search engine promotion would have entirely different requirements. All of these uses are viable reasons to create a blog, however each requires different features to be successful.

    WordPress Blogging Software
Available for free download at: http://wordpress.org/

It is hard to beat WordPress for general personal blogging. WordPress is an open source, state-of-the-art personal publishing platform with a focus on presentation and usability. Everything related to creating and updating your blog is available through an intuitive graphical interface. With WordPress there is no need to compile your work. You simply write your column. You then select the features you want and your blog is instantly created and published to your website.

If you are on vacation, you can schedule your uploads for some date in the future or even email your column to the server! The system allows multiple users with multiple blogs divided into categories and sub-categories. This allows multiple family members or friends to create their own blogs along with yours.

Easy customization and the availability of many “plug-ins” that provide more functionality (add new features as you learn) makes this software a very good choice for most individuals.

    B2evolution
Available for free download at: http://b2evolution.net/

B2evolution is another advanced web log tool that features an integrated XHTML validator. It supports recursive subcategories, cross posting and has a really cool integrated “skinning” system.

The “skinning” system allows you to create multiple blogs in separate categories with different appearances for each blog. You simply “change the skin” for the blog to create a totally new look and feel.

The “skinning” feature, combined with the built in multi-user administration management tool, makes the system robust enough for more commercial endeavors, such as product promotion blogs. If you have much to publish with multiple themes, this is the software you are looking for.

    Nucleus Blogging Software
Available for free download at: http://nucleuscms.org/

Though Nucleus is an extremely robust blogging tool in its own right, it also contains some powerful features that can provide benefits in promotion of your blog.

Nucleus offers the ability to optimize its URLS, creating simple page addresses that do not have and “&” or “=” characters. This makes the pages search engine (and user) friendly. Another great feature is the ability to show the contents of multiple weblogs on one page. This could allow a website owner to manipulate the optimum text / keyword balance on pages for better search engine rankings.

Nucleus also provides RSS and Atom feeds that can be extremely helpful when promoting a website. If part of your blog’s function is to work as a search engine marketing and promotion tool, Nucleus is an exceptional software package.

Each of these blogging software packages offer the basic tools that you would need to create a successful blog and all three are PHP - MySQL open source (free to use) packages. You should try to select the software that helps you achieve the long term goal that you have in mind for your website based on the unique extra features offered by each.
