Impacting a market and becoming an overnight success would have been only a dream. Internet marketing however made my dream into a reality. Once my product line was designed and all the manufacturing contracts in place. My potential for mass production was now in possible. That was when the use of a major search engine for promoting my products made all the difference. Through internet marketing, within days it seemed I was calling on my manufacturers to begin a second run of almost all of my products. The excitement was unbelievable. If this keeps up I might have to start thinking about some of those long term dreams coming true. While taking the time to shop around for best pricing is important. Quality is just as important if not more. When it comes to advertising and promoting to the retail crowd. You better make sure you are reaching your target customer. And as broad a base of customers as possible. Internet marketing offers it’s customers a variety of options and prices. You can begin by going with a smaller search engine. Then as business increases so can your advertising budget. You may never have need of the major search engines. It’s nice to know they are out there. Just in case.

There are not many things in the Internet Marketing world that you can wholly rely on. Following the advice of the ‘experts’ does not always yield success. In my experience though, there is one area of Internet business that can pretty reliably deliver results. And that is ‘Traffic, Adsense, Money’. In other words, if you send traffic to a site with AdSense on it, you will get paid! The good bit is that you will get paid by Google, which means that the income source is reliable. There is no waiting for payments, and no panicking if the provider will go bust before they send you your money.

So everything is rosy ….. or is it?

Can it really be as simple as that?

Well, in essence, it is that simple. Google have some simple rules which you must follow, but otherwise, you can pretty much count on receiving regular payments from Google if you adhere to the three card trick. Sending traffic to a site is not always straight forward, but there are many ways in which this can be achieved, although this is something outside the scope of this article.

What we want to discuss here, assumes that some traffic is coming to your site, and you have AdSense already established. We want to look at the ‘money’ element of the equation.

Whilst getting traffic to your site is a major part of the Internet Marketing exercise, it is not enough by itself. Undoubtedly, when you receive traffic to a web site with AdSense on it, you will get some people clicking on Ads, and you will receive some income. However, for every dollar you make on each web site, you could be losing another four or five. Let’s read that again,

Ouch! But it’s true. I know because I have proved it.

When I started creating web sites a few years ago, I discovered AdSense, created an account, threw some code onto my sites and left it. Not surprisingly, nothing happened, and I forgot about it, and went onto other things (sound familiar so far?).

Imagine my surprise when about two years later, I received a cheque from Google for just over $100. I couldn’t believe it. So, the first thing I did was to look at my AdSense account and see why they paid me. I also checked my web logs and lo noticed that traffic has appeared over a period of time, and yes, people had clicked on my AdSense ads. However, I was hungry for more information. After all, if I could do this without paying attention, imagine what would happen if I tried to replicate it. I started doing the math, and multiplying my results by the number of web sites I was going to put up. I could see dollar signs in front of my eyes, and was on my way to the travel agent, when it hit me.

I didn’t know HOW to replicate this success. I didn’t have enough information.

One thing was for sure. Web sites take time to attract traffic as a rule, and by doing nothing to promote my sites, I got some results, but it took a couple of years. So, we come to a rule

* There may be ways to speed things up, but you have to be patient.

And while we are at it, we can create another rule

* Track your results

Now, Google does offer some tools to track your web sites, but to my mind they are limited and cumbersome . They certainly didn’t give me many clues as to how and why I received my cheque from Google I wasn’t able to tell anything other than which sites has produced the income. Nice to know, but not enough to enable me to replicate my success. So, I had to find another way to track AdSense results. I eventually tracked down an awesome script that did everything bar get up and make a cup of coffee.

This script has everything that you need to monitor your AdSense campaigns. It not only tells you which sites are generating income, but it also tells you which pages on the sites, which Ads on the sites, which colors of which ads on the sites, which keywords were used to find you, which site referred your customer to you …. need I go on? It is a magnificent tool, and one which is indispensable if you want to succeed with AdSense

I just wish I had it four years ago …….

Anyway, back to the story ……

Once I installed the script, I started to see trends in my web sites, and as I built more sites, my AdSense income grew, and I now get regular payments from Google Please note that I am NOT one of those who makes tens of thousands a month with AdSense (I wish), and I still haven’t discovered the secret to that level of success. I do, however, continue to monitor my results and to read any information that I can relating to AdSense

I don’t know about you, but I buy a lot of material to try and help me build my online business, and I can count on very few fingers on one hand, those that actually worked as described.

This is one of those that does what is says on the tin folks!.

And what did I learn from this tool?

First off, I should point out that the tool is excellent for the beginner, because it takes you through every aspect of setting up an AdSense web site. No stone is left unturned.

And I am testimony to the fact that it goes beyond beginners as well.

I have implemented some of the strategies outlined on some of my sites, and I have seen improvements in all of them. I would say that my clicks have doubled with the same amount of traffic. I do not have many high traffic sites, and this is where this really wins. It helps you get the most out of your existing traffic, and does not rely on you having to generate more traffic.

Needless to say, I will continue to apply these techniques to my other sites, and certainly apply them to all of my new ones.

What you get: your own domain name, website-building software that’s easy to learn, up to 30 mailboxes, and tons of enhancements including visitor counters, form scripts, file uploading and a large selection of background designs. Plus, Earthlink gives you tons of free hints, resources, tutorials and advice on how to promote your business online.

2. Microsoft Outlook. I can’t fathom how anyone would manage their company email without this program. It’s super-fast, offers plenty of storage space and can handle large graphic files. Open multiple email windows and copy the contents of one into the other! Sort your emails by field and deposit them into separate folders that you create and label for optimum organization. View the contents of each email without having to open each one. Block unwanted emails from entering your Inbox, or set your auto-reply for when you’re away. Managing your contact addresses is a snap - and so is creating group lists for easy bulk-mailing! Can you tell I’m enamored with this program? If you bought your computer in the last five years, Outlook probably came with your Windows package… so if you haven’t clicked on the program yet, do it NOW!

3. Craigslist.org. I don’t know who Craig is, but God bless him for providing a F-R-E-E classified advertising forum for the world’s internet users. Craigslist is the secret to my success and it can be yours, too. Post information about your business services to major cities around the globe… for no money at all! Find people who have the skills you need to build your online presence. Buy and sell anything. Broadcast your name and contact info, or be anonymous if you’re the shy type! I can’t tell you how many cool opportunities I’ve found through Craigslist. Don’t waste another minute - post an ad today.

4. Ezinearticles.com. Want to establish your credibility on the internet and advertise your website in the process? Ezinearticles.com offers a free article posting forum where you can showcase your skills and ideas. Write the articles yourself, or pay a writer to write them for you. Either way, you get the chance to present your professional know-how as well as read articles written by other web experts. It’s a great way to swap information, promote your site, and make a name for yourself!

5. Angel Writer. For those who just bought Windows XP and discovered they have to now pay a couple of extra hundred bucks just to get a basic Word Processing program, here’s some good news. You don’t have to pay a dime for word processing software. Angel Writer has just about all the features that Word does, except for spellcheck and the word counter (you can easily find those on the internet if you do a little research). Save your work in the .doc, .txt and .rvf formats so that others can receive your work on email and download it into Word with no problem. Angel Writer is quick to download and simple to use. I’m working in it right now!

6. PDF 995 or Cute PDF. Why spend your hard-earned money on an expensive pdf converter when you can download one from the internet for free? Face it, anyone who runs their own shop needs a pdf converter- so you can send people creative presentations and not have to worry about them ripping you off; so you can publish e-books and upload them to your website for easy viewing (or purchasing!); so you can check out other people’s stuff!

7. Picturequest.com. Think you don’t have the money to feature snazzy photos in your web materials? Think again! There’s a fantastic image library right at your fingertips! Picturequest.com offers royalty-free photos that you can use on your website, in your advertising, wherever! Or, if you’re the serious designer looking to purchase high-quality professional photography, Picturequest’s low-cost package entitles you to thousands more images. Can you picture it?

8. Ad Aware. Are you aware of the reason why your computer seems so sluggish after you’ve been surfing the web all day? It’s because when you click on some websites, they automatically download tracking programs and malware onto your hard drive so they can monitor your web activity, and then bombard you with spam and popups. What a sleazy way to do business! The good news is, Ad Aware tracks these computer leeches and wipes them clean off your hard drive. My friend Lisa told me about this program last year when my computer was having some problems, and I’m happy to report that my baby is now running at peak performance. Thanks, Lisa!
